Bloomsburg Falls to Shippensburg in Women's Basketball

BLOOMSBURG -The Bloomsburg University women's basketball team fell to Shippensburg, 90-74 in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) action on Tuesday. The Huskies were led by Colleen Kegerreis (Schuylkill Haven/ Schuylkill Haven) who had 22 points, while Chantal Hardy (Philadelphia/Harcum College) added 19.

Shippensburg went on a 11-2 run to start the game before Kegerreis answered with six straight points, cutting the lead down to five four and a half minutes into the first half. From there, Shippensburg would extend their lead to 15 with 9:34 left, courtesy of a Michelle Metz jumper. The Red Raiders would lead by as much as 20 after a Lauren Beckley three pointer and a Meg Fogle lay-up, heading to the break with a 51-31 lead.

In the second half, Shippensburg would maintain that 20 point cushion until the eight-minute mark, when Kegerreis and Hardy hit back- to-back baskets to cut the lead to 15, 70-55. That was as close as the Huskies would come, though, as the Red Raiders went on a 9-0 run over the next 3:55 to ice the game. With the win, Shippensburg improves to 8-1 on the season, while the Huskies fall to 4-5.

Bloomsburg will host Lock Haven on Wednesday at 5:30 p.m.
